Somalis result from a genetic mutation in Abyssinians resulting in long hair. All Somalis and Abyssinians are descended from one kitten named Zulu that a soldier brought to England from Alexandria, Egypt. Somalis are also called Fox Cats because of their bushy tails. Somalis shed less than most long haired cats.
